How many cities do you know who maintain a trailhead that leads to a cascading waterfall? We have known for years that North Adams was full of surprises. One minute you can be standing in the midst of a massive art installation in Gallery 5 at MASSMoCA and in 15 minutes you can be in the middle of the woods.
We are working alongside the city, a group of community stakeholders, and regional planing and conservation organizations to meet people where they are and show them how accessible the outdoors in the region can be. This ongoing project is being funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to help people come for the culture and head out for the nature. The program is mapping the city in detail, providing points of interpretation, and encouraging both visitors and neighbors alike to explore.
